Wayne McPherson Obituary

Wayne Robert McPherson, 78, died Sunday, October 22, 2023, at home with his family in Drasco, Arkansas.

Wayne was born on Jan. 23, 1945. He was born and raised in Kewanna, Indiana, and is the son of William Joseph McPherson and Pearl Lavon James-McPherson. Both preceded him in death (Joe, Dec. 18, 1985 & Pearl, Nov. 6, 2020).

As a child, Wayne attended Kewanna Elementary and High School. He received certificates for perfect attendance the last few years of high school, and enjoyed playing baseball when he was younger.

Wayne eventually met his wife Sandra “Sandy” Lucile Garbison-McPherson in 1964, and later married her on July 30 1965. The two moved around a bit, living in Idaville, Royal Center, and later Kewanna with their 4 children.

Wayne took over his father’s business “Key Discount” service station in Kewanna, and worked there for 33 years. Many people enjoyed stopping by the station for some playful banter and his knowledge on motor vehicles. He was the light and heart of the community. Wayne retired in 2007 when he sold the business.

He will always be remembered by his loved ones for the mischievous look and chuckle he gave you after he did something small to annoy his wife (which she secretly loved), and his love for a sweet treat. He will also be remembered as a religious man who attended the Philadelphia Church of God every single Saturday while he was able. He was a hard worker, and a man who loved his family more than life. He will be missed sorely by his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Sandy, his children: Angela (Tommy), David (Bonita), Daniel (Donna) and Sylvia, his 7 grandchildren and his 6 great grandchildren.
