Wayne Cook Comer, 89, of Heber Springs, AR, passed away on May 11, 2022.
Wayne was born in 1932 in the Fawn Grove Community, MS, the son of Elzie Comer and Eunice Cook Comer. He grew up in Mississippi and, as a young man, moved to Memphis, TN, where he was a business owner. He later retired to Heber Springs, Arkansas.
Wayne was a gracious, old-fashioned gentleman. He had a great love for his family and friends, animals and the outdoors. Always a Mississippi boy at heart, Wayne loved Ole Miss. He treasured spending time on his farm and spent countless hours fishing for Crappie at Sardis Lake, and sitting on “the hill” enjoying the countryside. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and NASCAR with a passion. Being a member of a gospel quartet in his younger years, he could be found many Sunday mornings enjoying and singing along to gospel music on the radio.
Mr. Comer is survived by his wife, Faye Comer of Heber Springs AR; his brother, Tyson Comer of Memphis TN; his daughters, Lynn Lindsey (Mike) of Covington TN, and Lisa Word (Sam) of Atoka TN; three grandchildren, Michael Lindsey (Candice), Emily Lipscomb (Bailey), and Allie Word; and four great-grandchildren, Noah Lindsey, Levi Lindsey, Luke Lindsey, and Bell Lipscomb. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Tammy Fulinara (Keith), and Bill Kissinger, both of Memphis TN; and 7 step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Hazel Wellborn and Earlene Greene.
Graveside services will be held May 16, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at Spring Hill Cemetery, 867-869 County Road 1389, Saltillo, MS.
