Telford Ray Compton, age 81 of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away March 18, 2021. Born September 6, 1939, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, he was the son of Arthur Edward Compton and Pearlie May Bacon Compton. Before retirement, Ray worked as a truck driver and dispatcher in the industry. He was a born-again Christian in the Baptist faith.
His hobbies included genealogy, bird watching, yard sales, tinkering around, and most importantly, spending time with his wife Rose Compton of fifty years and his family.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife married on February 17, 1967, Rose Lee Herren Chitwood Compton; daughters Patricia Ann Chitwood, Deborah Kay Compton Briggs, Dana Gay Compton Rodgers, a son Danny Jay Compton; a grandson Geddy Lee Rodgers, and a great-grandson Titus Lee Compton.
Ray is survived by five sons; Gary Lynn Chitwood (Mary) of Homer, Georgia; Robert Dwight Chitwood of St. Clair Missouri; David Ray Compton (Tracey Spriggs) of Annadale, New Jersey; Douglas Day Compton (Mary) of Centerton, Arkansas, and Dennis Lay Compton of Bentonville, Arkansas; one daughter Donna Fay Compton Miller (Andrew) of House Springs, Missouri; three brothers William Love Compton (Ann) of Heber Springs, Arkansas; Tomie Compton of Heber Springs, Arkansas; and Buddy Howard Compton of Heber Springs, Arkansas; 25 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and many friends.
