Silas Ephrain Valdez Obituary

Silas Ephrain Valdez was born on August 30, 1935 to Jose Arsenio Valdez and Juanita (Maestes) Valdez in Antonito, Colorado. He passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at home in Conway, Arkansas after a sudden decline in health. Silas lived a very full 88 years of life. 


Silas is survived by his loving wife, Christine Valdez, his brother Stan Valdez, his sisters Frieda Payne and Esther Kast, his grandchildren Jalisa (Chris) Allison, Jessie (Amanda) Valdez, Jalena (Adam Coleman) Valdez, and Jenna (Carlos) Arizpe-Valdez, 11 great-grandchildren Grant, Emma, Lily, Maggie Allison; Mila, Eli, Nolan, Ruth Valdez; Blaise, Buddy, Adalena Coleman, and one great, great grandson, Bryson Allison,his brother Stan Valdez, his sisters Frieda Payne and Esther Kast, sister-in-laws Maroline (Lee) Ritter, Linda Groditski, Carolina Riley, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Silas was predeceased by his son, Ephrain Silas Valdez,  mother-in-law Mary Ortiz, his parents Jose and Juanita Valdez, siblings Ben Valdez, Adolph Valdez, Marci Madrid, Marie Gonzalez, Connie Leyba. 


Silas and Christine met in 1968 in Denver, Colorado, and married soon after. They had one son, Ephrain in 1969. After Ephrain and all their grandchildren moved to Conway, Arkansas they were soon to follow in 2003. Silas passed a true Arkansan in his camo shirt. He loved his grandchildren more than anything. He found great joy in sharing Eskimo Pies, A&W root beer floats, and peppermints with them. You could find Silas in his chair watching classic war movies, sharing an ice cream with one of his grandkids, or talking someone’s ear off. Silas will be remembered for his sense of humor, joyful laugh, his love of sweets, gift of gab, deep affection for his family, and his signature pose for the camera. 


Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway, Arkansas on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024.  The rosary will begin at 12:00 P.M. with the funeral mass to follow at 1:00 P.M.
