Ruth Marie Warner Wright passed away January 4, 2021. She was born July 1st, 1934 to the late Elvin and Ruby (Neal) Warner in Wallace Ridge, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband George G. Wright, her son Michael W. Wright, and her sister Ethel Rae Lawrence.
Ruth graduated from high school in 1951 from Harrisonburg High in Louisiana. In October of that year, she married George Wright. After only two dates, she took the bus to Pensacola, FL to meet George where they would then travel to Mississippi to get married. It is here that they began their 66-year adventure together.
Ruth was the driving force in not only George's career but her career as well. With only a high school education, Ruth took on the financial world. She began as a bank teller and then loan officer, vice-president and then retiring as the president of Electric Co-Op Federal Credit Union.
Ruth loved to travel and see the world. Over George's 30-year career in the military, she lived in 10 states and traveled the globe spending time in Spain, North Africa, and Sicily. A fantastic cook, she loved to recreate the recipes from the exotic places she visited sharing the culture with those close to her. After her retirement from the world of credit unions she relished the opportunities to have new adventures taking cruises through Europe, visiting Australia and then relaxing at the family farm.
Ruth is survived by her sisters Barbara Karger, Jean (Larry) Kalb; daughter Janet Dye; grandchildren Tamara Berry, Michael (Tamara) Towns, Michael Wright Jr., Kristina Wright (Jan); Great Grandchildren Steven Towns, Gayle Towns, Jaylee Towns, Aubrey Towns, and Ethan Wright.
There will be a visitation 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at Heber Springs Funeral Home with the service beginning immediately after visitation at 2:00 pm.
