Richard Alton Kirkland, age 73, of Heber Springs, passed away at his home on December 26, 2021. He was born on April 14, 1948 in Orlando, Florida to the late Hubert Alton Kirkland and Betty Jo Moore Kirkland.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and his maternal grandparents, Hilton and Aneth Coaplen, lovingly known as Ma and Pa.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Vicky Linda Middleton Kirkland; three sons, Jonathan Kirkland of Kissimmee, Florida, Eric Goforth of Smithville, Arkansas, and Jesse Goforth of Smithville, Arkansas; two brothers, Ronald Richardson of Florida, and Robert Richardson of Florida; two sisters, Cynthia Kirkland of South Carolina, and Deborah Kirkland of Georgia; and one grandchild, Michael Goforth.
Richard was an Army Veteran who served our nation during the Vietnam War. He was also a graduate of the University of Orlando and worked many years as a Respiratory Therapist with Baptist Health. He loved photography and bird watching, and also had a very good sense of humor.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 am, January 8, 2022 at Sugarloaf Baptist Church in Heber Springs, Arkansas with Rev. Tony Criswell officiating.
