Murphy Duane Birdsong, age 77, of Tumbling Shoals, AR passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was born October 4, 1944 in Weiner, Arkansas to the late Ira Murphy (Bud) Birdsong and Mildred Birdsong Linn. He’s a member of the Weiner Christian Church.

He served in the Army National Guard in the 5th 206 Artillery, Harrisburg, Arkansas.

Murphy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working with his flowers, and spending time with family and his mom’s dog Dawn.

He is preceded in death by his Dad, Ira Murphy (Bud) Birdsong; two daughters, Belinda Birdsong Barks, Murphie DeAnn Birdsong Gill; niece, Ashley Birdsong Hill; nephew Cody Smith; brother-in-law Andy Smith.

Murphy is survived by his mother, Mildred Birdsong Linn of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas; two brothers, Ira Birdsong (Linda) of Boynton Beach, Florida, Eugene Birdsong (Chris) Of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one sister, Lillie Smith of Greenbrier, Arkansas; two daughters, Tonya Dunn (Rick) of Alpine, Alabama, Jamie Campbell (Vern) of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Mendy, Jarett, Vanna, Shy, Landon, Shandie, Cody, Amanda, Cory and several Great-Grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Tina Bryant (Timmy), Lanita Shepherd (Liz), Karen Norris (Bobby), Stacy Courtney, Buddy Birdsong, Tony Smith (Tracy), Gina Reaves (Lynn) and Jeromy Birdsong, and many great nieces and nephews. 

Murphy was buried at Walker Cemetery in Weiner, Arkansas. No services are planned.
