Mabel Martin Obituary

Mabel Lee Blake Martin of Heber Springs, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2020, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home. She fought a long hard battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia, but praise the Lord the battle is over and she has no more pain.

Mabel was born on April 1, 1941 in Watson, Oklahoma to the late Herman and Nola Blake. She had eleven siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Nola Blake; one sister, Joyce Spicer; two brothers, Almon Blake and Mike Blake; one sister-in-law, Louise Blake and one brother-in-law, Otties Parish.

Mabel retired from the Glove Cooperation after 36 years. She loved family, crocheting, and cooking. She was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Edward Eugene Martin whom she married August 10, 1957; two daughters DaNita Haile (Ernest) of Heber Springs and Melba Clark (Obia) of Mt. View; three grandchildren, Travis Haile (Vicki), Tracy Fall (Franklin) and Terrie Holley (fiancé Devin Avey); seven great grandchildren, Reese and Merritt Haile, Harper and Hudson Fall, Dakota Meeker, Karter Avey, Zayleigh Avey, two step great-grandsons Devin and Dawson Clark;  two brothers, Tommy and Richard Blake (Karen); six sisters, May Parish, Lou Phillips (Buck), Edith Sinyard (Gene), Anna Stafford (Roy), Donna Smith (Jimmy), Francis Hartley (Gary); one sister-in-law, Opal Blake, and many other extended family members and friends.

Special thanks to the White River Area Agency on Aging for the great care the last two years.

Thanks to Arkansas Hospice help in her time of need.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 10, at South Crossroads Church in Hopewell, Arkansas with Brother Van Saunders officiating. There will be a walk through visitation after the funeral service. Interment in South Crossroads Cemetery with Heber Springs Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in honor of Mabel Martin to Cleburne County Aging program, 320 Trail Wood Drive, Heber Springs, AR 72543.
