Lorne Wayne Cornett, 47, of Drasco, went to be with his heavenly Father early Saturday morning, October 10, 2020. Lorne was born on February 9, 1973 to Chester and Margeurite Cornett. He loved Jesus with his whole heart and was a faithful member of Macedonia General Baptist Church. Lorne was a dedicated employee of Bryce for over 26 years. If you have ever visited with Lorne, he would happily tell you stories and show you pictures of his most prized accomplishment in life, Ali. They spent every possible minute together making precious memories and taking a lot of selfies.
Lorne is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Kristie; daughter and best friend, Ali Ann; parents, Chester and Marguerite; and siblings, Jimmy and wife Paulette, Mark and wife Becky, Marilyn and husband Doug. Lorne’s nieces and nephews were very special to him, and each held a special place in his heart – Cody, Erin, Emily, Carrie, Levi, Riley, Annalise, and Laiken. He enjoyed spending time with his family by playing cards, board games, and often initiated football games in the backyard.
Lorne became a part of the Lawson family at an early age, earning a seat on the sofa until Kristie turned 15. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Barbara. He was much loved by father-in-law, Steve; brother-in-law, Devan and wife Dana; and sister-in-law, Amanda and husband Mitchell. Lorne was a fun-loving uncle to Elias, Zed, Raigan, Rylee, and Gunnar.
Lorne was a loyal fan of the Raiders, win or lose. He was also a die-hard Celtics fan and has influenced many family members to become fans of both teams. He and Ali shared a love for 80’s music, action-filled movies, and square-body Chevy trucks. He enjoyed spending time playing the newest Madden on the PlayStation, burning brush piles that often got out of control, shooting hoops with Ali, and looking up at the stars. He was the life of the party at Ali’s annual birthday sleepovers, and always had “Rapid Fire” questions ready for the girls.
Funeral service will be held at Arbanna Baptist Church on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Pastor, and long-time friend, Bro. Samuel Wildmon, will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Keith Cornett, David Damon, Carl Smith, Myron Stoltzfus, Ronnie Watlington, and Jeffrey Wells. Honorary pallbearers are Lester Cornett, Devan Lawson, Steve Lawson, B.W. McCarty, Roger Stone, and John Wood.
