Kenneth Albert Smith age 89 of Vilonia, Arkansas passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Conway Health Care and Rehab Center. He was born December 12, 1931 in Wilburn, Arkansas and the son of the late Sherman and Gladys Calhoun Smith. Mr. Kenneth attended Liberty Nazarene Church of Vilonia and was a retired US Airforce veteran.
Mr. Smith was great to talk with and had many interesting stories to share about his life experiences. He dearly loved baseball, enjoyed horses, trail riding, camping and traveling. He had worked as a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force and loved to talk to folks about anything having to do with the military or jet engines. He had been involved in the local government serving on the Vilonia Arkansas City Council. He was also at one time in charge of housing maintenance & grounds at the Little Rock Airforce Base.
Those preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 54 years, Geneva Bufford Smith and two brothers, Floyd and Paul Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Kenny Smith (Shelia) and Alfred Smith (Dee Dee) both of Vilonia, Arkansas; two daughters, Carolyn Kennedy (Dwayne) of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Connie Farner (Joe) of Houston, Arkansas; one brother, Clois Smith of Heber Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Myrtle Pearce of North Little Rock, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Kennedy (Amanda), Dustin Smith (Jessica), Candi Kennedy (Jay), Arica Nealey (Robert), Amanda Sanson (Kevin), Alicia Loyd (Michael), Kyle Smith (Sarah) and Staci Allen (Conner); twenty great-grandchildren which include ten girls and ten boys and other extended family members and many friends.
A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday evening, May 18, 2021 at Heber Springs Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the funeral home with Brother Butch Money officiating. Interment will follow in Center Chapel Cemetery, Wilburn, Arkansas. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by the Heber Springs American Legion Post 64.
