Karen Dean Meek, age 81, of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away Sunday, April 25, 2025 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She was born April 4, 1944 in Rutherford, Tennessee to the late Paul McDaniel and Joy Rice McDaniel. 

Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Mitchell; her parents; brother, Harold McDaniel; and sister, Ann Dunlap.

She is survived by her son, Franklin Kevin Mitchell of West Virginia; daughters, Deneen Pruitt (Lonny) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Sheawanna Highfill (Jeremy) of Pocahontas, Arkansas; grandchildren, Bradley Pruitt (Rebecca), Michael Dorsey (Marissa). Dillon Dorsey (Shelby), and Hannah Robertson (Dominic); and 11 great-grandchildren. 

Karen loved to make people laugh and to be spontaneous. She had a big heart and loved to take care of people. She loved fishing and gardening, but most of all, she loved her family. Every family member had a special place in her heart. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed every moment with her nephews and nieces and loved them all dearly. In the last few years, as it was getting harder for her to take care of herself on her own, she was provided the same loving care, as she always provided others as a CNA, from her daughter and son-in-law, Sheawanna and Jeremy. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
