Joe David Marrs, age 82, of Heber Springs died Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Seven Springs Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Joe was born in Lynn Haven, Florida on September 3, 1941 to Gurvas “GT” Buddy and Ayline Vise Marrs.
Joe joined the Navy early after graduation from high school. After an honorary discharge, he worked for the Postal Service before going to work for the Federal Energy Administration until he retired in 1999.
Joe met the love of his life, Marva Jo at Harding University, where they were married January 12, 1969 and spent 45 wonderful years together.
During that time, they had two beautiful children, April Christine and David Jonathan. Joe was a lifelong member at the Church of Christ and a wonderful Christian example of a husband, father, and grandfather.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Marva Jo; parents; brother, John Marrs; and brother in law, Bill Shupe.
Joe is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, April and John Todd of Rockwall, Texas; son, David Marrs of Heber Springs; granddaughter Dakoyta and grandson, Rylan, both of Rockwall, Texas; sister-in-law, Frances Shupe of Arlington, Texas; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation is 6 pm - 8 pm, Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Heber Springs Funeral Home. The funeral service is 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Heber Springs Church of Christ followed by the interment at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs.
