Jimmy Ray Pulley, age 83, of Wilburn, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his residence. He was born May 26, 1938 in Tilton, Arkansas the son of the late Oscar Theodore Pulley and Vera Foltz Pulley. He attended Wilburn Community Church.
Jimmy always loved the 4th of July because it brought the family together. The family stated it is fitting that his funeral service will be during the 4th of July holiday since it was Jimmy’s favorite time of the year. Another milestone regarding the 4th of July holiday is that Jimmy taught his nephew to ski forty-eight years ago on Independence Day.
Jimmy loved big trucks and was in the trucking business most of his life. He taught many people how to drive trucks along the way. Once he was on a long haul and a piston went bad in his truck and Jimmy changed out the piston and sleeve right on the side of the road. Scott stated he could overhaul a truck and never get dirty. He didn’t want anyone getting into his truck if they had dirty clothes or shoes on. Jimmy not only overhauled big trucks, but was talented in carpentry and many other areas of working with his hands.
He loved fishing and hunting as long as his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cindy Goodpaster; one grandson, Jeremy Scott Pulley, and a sister-in-law, Cathy Pulley.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Laura Burnett Pulley; three sons, Scott Pulley (Cheryl) of Wilburn, Arkansas, Jimmy Pulley of Vandale, Arkansas and Bud Bowman (Thelma) of Mt. View, Arkansas; two daughters, Elizabeth Wells (Toby) of Harrisburg, Arkansas and Sara Mings (Ray) of Mt. View, Arkansas; three brothers, Sherman Pulley (Glenda) of Wynne, Arkansas, Aubrey Pulley (Ava) of Wynne, Arkansas and Junior Pulley of Tilton, Arkansas; two sisters, Jackie Elrod of Clarksville, Arkansas and Glenda Pulley Coffman of Hot Springs, Arkansas; son-in-law, Clayton Goodpaster; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren and other extended family members and many friends.
