Jerry E. Capshaw, age 80, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away on November 17, 2021 at Southridge Village Nursing and Rehab after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 03, 1941 in McCrory, Arkansas to the late Otha Wylie Capshaw and Alma Willene Eaves Capshaw.
Jerry served our nation for 12 years in the US Navy. He then served the public as a Lieutenant for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. Lieutenant Capshaw served with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office from 1972 until his retirement in 1995. He is fondly remembered for starting the first Aviation Unit and was also honored to be the first pilot to fly for the Sheriff’s Office.
Jerry and Donna enjoyed traveling all across the country in their RV, visiting almost every state. He was an amateur photographer, he loved to fish, and enjoyed family genealogy.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Alma Capshaw.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Maurene Peterson Capshaw; two daughters, Tracy Bice (Robert) of Deltona, Florida, and Kim Demola (Jim) of Orlando, Florida; one son, Bill Capshaw of Sanford, Florida; the mother of Jerry’s children, Nancy Jaworski Capshaw of Leesburg, Florida; eight grandchildren, JD, Sarah, David, Austin, Ryan, Matthew, Lauren, and Caitlin; one great-grandchild, Matthew Jr; and many extended family members, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens Pavilion.
