Janie Lee Hope age 95 of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away September 16, 2019 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab in Heber Springs. Born February 16, 1924 in Rector, Arkansas she was the daughter of the late James R. and Erva M. Riley Wooten . Janie was the oldest of seven children and helped greatly in nurturing her siblings. She was a devout Christian woman and attended the Pine Street Church of Christ in Heber Springs.
Janie’s hobbies included quilting, reading her Bible, traveling in the mountains, she loved dancing especially at the Heber Springs Folklore Center. She dearly loved her family and friends.
Janie married William O. Curry on September 29, 1940 and lived a challenging life of migrant farm work. She had lived in Michigan and then in Illinois until 1985 when she retired from Emerson Electric Company and moved back to Arkansas. Janie has resided in Heber Springs for the past 16 years.
She is preceded in death by spouse, William O. Curry; daughter, Peggy L. McMaster and all her siblings.
Survivors include her children, Joe W. Curry, Patricia P. Meachum, William J. Curry and Richard R. Curry all of Heber Springs, Arkansas; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at Heber Springs Funeral Home, 1199 Wilburn Road, at 11:00 am, Monday, September 23, 2019. A luncheon will follow provided by Pine Street Church of Christ, 1314 Pine Street, Heber Springs, Arkansas.
