James Donald Whitehurst Obituary
On July 16, James Donald Whitehurst’s faith became sight as he met his Savior and Lord face-to-face at the age of 81. Donald was born on August 22, 1942, to Hezekiah and Pruvie Whitehurst and lived most of his life in the Pine Snag community. He loved working on his farm and spending time with his family, including his church family. One of his greatest loves was reading his Bible and sharing its truths with others.
Donald married his sweetheart, Carolyn Smith Whitehurst, on June 22, 1968, and together they raised two daughters, many cows, and even more chickens. He was especially proud when his youngest daughter arrived on his birthday. Donald worked hard all of his life, and he worked hard to teach his family about the love of God.
We’re certain that Donald was met in Heaven by those who went before him, including his parents; an infant sister; his niece, Debbie Owens; and two sisters-in-law, Nell Whitehurst and Kay Smith.
Donald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Whitehurst; his daughters, Melanie Whitehurst and Amanda Stephens (Jerry); two grandchildren, Patrick Stephens (Hadassah) and Maci Stephens; and one great-grandchild, Solomon Stephens. He’s also survived by his brother Carl Whitehurst and sister Marsha Morgan (Willie), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank all of those who have prayed for and loved Donald, and especially the wonderful caregivers of Arkansas Hospice and his church family.
