James D. “Donnie” Hyslip passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. Donnie was born in Marianna, Arkansas, the son of Otis and Lillie Hyslip. He was one of six children. Donnie joined the AR National Guard when he was 17 and served in many roles, primarily as an armorer. He served for 29 years, ultimately achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3. 

After retiring, he served as a long-term fly fishing guide on the Little Red River, taught fly fishing at ASU Heber Springs, and was a founding member of the Cleburne County Shooting Club. He enjoyed telling a good story and loved spending time with his large family that he loved dearly. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children.
