Hollis Nail was born on March 8, 1951 in Carlisle Arkansas to Floyd and Alma Nail. He attended Cotton Plant High school and graduated in 1970. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1974. He retired from Van Heusen shirt factory in 2015. He moved to Heber Springs in 2017 and went to work for Wal-Mart.

Hollis was preceeded in death by his parents Floyd and Alma Nail, his sister Betty Heath, his brother Billy Don Nail, and his sister-in-law Liz Nail.

He left behind his wife Margaret Nail. His children Michelle Ratliff (Shaun), Jason Nail (Sarah), Chris Gordon (Kim), Melissa Keeton (David), Angela Randall (Terry), and Brandon Armstrong (Brooke). His brothers Leon Nail (Jessie), Jimmy Doyne Nail (Margaret), Jerry Nail (Beverly), and Larry Nail. Twenty-Two grandkids Audrey Ratliff, Matthew Norman, Brayden Ratliff, Jocylen Norman, Noah Ratliff, Daniel Clemons, Anna Grace Nail, Jagger Winberry, Justice Winberry, Rainy Winberry, Kaylee Surratt, Danielle Holliday, Joshua Gordon, Katie Keown, Kandis Keeton, Ashley Maxey, Matthew Keeton, Talon Smith, Danielle Carr, Trevor Williams, Dyan Black, and Brantley Randall.
