Harold Glenn Earnest, 97, formerly of Romance and currently residing in Cabot AR, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 4th, 2023. He was born August 11, 1925 in Octavia, Oklahoma to the late James Franklin Earnest and Roxi Ana (Maggard) Earnest.
Earnie was the oldest Vietnam Veteran in the state of Arkansas. He served in the military for 37 years. He was apart of the United States Marines Corp, Air Force, and lastly the Army where he retired as the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Army, Earnie received the following medals; Bronze Star, Army Commendation, National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign. He has done many jobs from being a mechanic on stock cars in Denver, CO, to being a cowboy on a ranch in New Mexico, to retiring from a printing company in Mississippi. One of Earnie’s greatest loves other than Betti was traveling. They enjoyed trips together to Europe, Canada, and many train trips throughout the United States.
Earnie is preceded in death by his parents and 9 brothers and sisters. Earnie is survived by his wife, Betti, his sister Peggy Sayler, many nieces and nephews, step-daughter Steffani Anderson (Rick), 3 granddaughters Amanda Dill (Josh), Kristie Spencer, and Taylor Anderson (Greg Skubick), a grandson Roo Anderson (Reagan), a great granddaughter Kate, and a great grandson Eli.
He was a proud veteran, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by too many friends and family to list.
The funeral will be officiated by the Sherwood Police Department’s Chaplain, Reverend Robby Tingle. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Reverend Tingle. He brought peace and comfort to Earnie and his entire family on his final journey.
Visitation is 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at South Crossroads Church in Rose Bud with the Funeral Service at beginning at 12:00 PM. The Interment is at South Crossroads Cemetery.
