Glenn Allen Buercklin, 87, of Greers Ferry, peacefully passed away on December 3, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at his home.

Glenn was born on February 19, 1935, to Austin and Ona (Moody) Buercklin on a cloudy, windy day in Black Rock, Arkansas. After Glenn graduated from Little Rock High School in 1953, he pursued a degree in psychology at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

After graduation, he worked for the March of Dimes National Foundation in Missouri and Kansas as State Representative. During his tenure with the Foundation, Glenn met with such dignitaries as Dr. Jonas Salk and President Harry Truman. An entrepreneur at heart, Glenn eventually settled in the Greers Ferry area where he built and was the original owner/operator of Shiloh Marina.  Later, he built and was owner and Principal Broker of Acreage Realty in Greers Ferry. Glenn then turned his interest in real estate into a position as an appraiser with Cleburne County and finished his working years with the county as the Cleburne County Jail Administrator.

Glenn enjoyed his work and loved what he did for a living at each stage of life; he had many stories that he loved to share.

Glenn was a longtime member of West Side First Baptist Church in Greers Ferry, Arkansas. He was involved in many civic organizations throughout his life; in early childhood he joined the Boy Scouts of America as a Cub Scout, eventually earning Scouting’s highest rank, that of Eagle Scout. Glenn was the first President of the Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River Association in 1965, he was President of the Cleburne County Board of Realtors in 1985, and he was also involved with The Optimist Club, The Lions Club, The Heart of the Lake Hospice volunteers, and was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer.

Glenn retired in 2001 after 40+ years of work and civic involvement. After a few years in early retirement as the Constable for Frances Township, he spent his later retirement years traveling with Donna, enjoying his family members, and appreciating the beauty of nature and wildlife at his home on Greers Ferry Lake.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Ona (Moody) Buercklin and Roena Buercklin. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Donna Buercklin and his service dog Sassy, one brother John Buercklin and wife Frances, one son Glenn Buercklin, Jr. and wife Jodie Spears, four daughters: Allison Croslow, Diann Buercklin, Amy Byford and husband Patrick and Angi Ogle and husband Jarrett, and the mother of his three oldest children Elizabeth Buercklin. Glenn is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Brad (Heather) Croslow, Shannon (Marc) Boettjer, Catherine (Aaron Farris) Buercklin, Leslie Croslow, Joseph Buercklin, Kalie (Jeff) Sides, Jonathan Ogle, Nicholas Buercklin, Natalie Short, Ryan Buercklin, Judson Ogle, and Parker Byford; 4 great-grandchildren: Brody Boettjer, Britton Mazander, Hudson Creasey and Hadley Creasey; as well as nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.

Services will be held at Heber Springs Funeral Home on Thursday, December 8, 2022 with visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be immediately following at Antioch Cemetery in Drasco, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Heber Springs Humane Society. The family also wishes to thank the staff and employees of Hospice Homecare of Searcy and Southern Caregivers of Searcy for the love and care shown over the last year.
