Gladys Bittle

Gladys Alvena Heigle Bittle, age 96, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas passed away April 20, 2020 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She was born September 26, 1923 in Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas the daughter of the late Lee Roy Heigle and Ethel Salters Heigle. She was of the protestant faith and was a member of Eastern Star and VFW Auxiliary.

She loved to cook especially for her family. She loved to talk and her grandfather, Frank Heigle, used to say “here comes my little talker”. Her favorite pastime was “shop till you drop”.

Gladys was preceded in death by her first husband, George Richard Whitaker and her second husband, Wiley C. Bittle; three brothers, Hubert, Buck and Isaac Heigle; one son, Terry D. Bittle; two sisters, Ruby Davidson and Eileen Heigle; granddaughter, Randi Leigh Clanton and daughter-in-law, Edwina Lea Whitaker.

Survivors include her son, George R. Whitaker of Piedmont, SD; one daughter, Sharon Kay Brown (Lloyd) of Quitman, AR; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bittle of Tumbling Shoals, AR; grandchild, Tara Smith (Clint) of Conway, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Charly Kay and Caston Boyce Clanton of Mississippi, Harper and Haven Smith; step-grandchildren, Russell and Blake Baldridge of Tumbling Shoals, AR; other extended family members and many friends.
