Gerald Brady Obituary

Gerald Adrian Brady, age 95, of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Baptist Health in Heber Springs. He was born February 21, 1926 in Pollard, Arkansas, the son of the late John Austin and Nancy Belle Latta Brady. December 6, 1947 he was united in marriage to Louise Runyon. To this union four children were born. He was a World War ll Army Veteran and a member of Sugar Loaf Baptist Church in Heber Springs and attended faithfully until his health failed.

He served in France and Germany during World War ll and received the EAME service medal, the Bronze Star, World War ll Victory Medal, Occupation Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal for his service. Gerald was retired Director of Maintenance at Piggott Memorial Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas. He and his wife were gatekeepers at the entrance gate to Damsite Park part time for 23 years. He loved to play games, especially Canasta. He was a big St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and attended several games.  After retirement he and Louise travelled extensively, taking trips to Alaska and California and all over the United States visiting their children and grandchildren. He was a people person who never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Wilma Gail Brandon and Virginia Mae Riley.

Survivors include, his wife of 73 ½ years, Helen Louise Brady; three sons, Michael Brady (Debra) of Russellville, Arkansas, David Brady (Sherry) of Dickson, Tennessee, and Dan Brady of Texarkana, Arkansas; one daughter, Donna Brady of LaPorte, Texas; seven grandchildren, Matt Brady, Nicole Greathouse, Emile Ralston, Keegan Donehoo, Caleb Donehoo, Lauren Brady, and Taylor Brady; eight great grandchildren; other extended family members and many friends.

Graveside service  will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas with Bro. George Bearden officiating.  A visitation will be held Friday, May 28, 2021 at Heber Springs Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Heber Springs Funeral Home, 1199 Wilburn Road, is in charge of arrangements.
