George Adams Obituary

George Wayne Adams, age 83, of Tumbling Shoals, AR passed away May 13th, 2022 at his home.

Born in Wilburn, AR, April 5, 1939. He was the son of John and Ella Hartwick Adams.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters - Deanna Dawn Adams and Sherry Forrester. Two sisters - Altha Brown and Marie Dollar and one brother - Brad Adams.

He is survived by his son, John Adams, and two grandsons, Trenton Adams (Alexus) and Trey Adams (Carrie) as well as two great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Kaysen Adams. His siblings, Joe Adams, Lucielle Jackson, Delsa Adams, Helen Price (Bennie), and Gerald Dollar.

He is also survived by Judy Clark, Russell Barnes, Lisa Baser (Jesse), Hazen Fraser (David), Kane Dill (Kenley), and Dayton and Denver Fraser as well as many other friends, family and loved ones.

Mr. Adams helped with the construction of Friendship Community Church in Wilburn, AR and was active in the church community as long as his health permitted.

Wayne joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 17 and served for three years. After a brief time as a civilian in the Marine Reserves he enlisted into the United States Air Force. His career in the Air Force took him to several Asian countries during the Vietnam War where he was an accomplished airplane mechanic working on planes such as the SR-71 Blackbird and the U2 Spy Plane.

He also ran an education program in Bossier City, LA. After which he transferred to the Little Rock Air Force Base and served several years as an MP. On February 1st, 1979 he retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant.

Mr. Adams enjoyed construction, wood working, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his loved ones. He was also known for hosting large get togethers for friends and family.

Services will be held at Heber Springs Funeral Home in Heber Springs, AR on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Visitation will start at 1:00PM with service to follow at 2:00PM. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery on Center Ridge Rd - Adams Rd in Drasco, AR. Rev Samuel Wildman officiating.
