In Loving Memory of Gary D. Southard
March 15, 1946 – May 31, 2026
Gary D. Southard, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 31, 2026, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born on March 15, 1946, in Dell, Arkansas, Gary lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, humor, and a deep love for the people around him.
Gary spent his career as a dedicated Chevrolet/GM salesman, where he built lasting relationships and earned the trust of countless customers and coworkers. His easy smile and genuine care for others made him unforgettable to everyone who crossed his path.
An avid golfer, Gary could often be found on the course, competing in and winning several local tournaments. When he wasn’t playing, he was watching—never missing a chance to enjoy a good match or cheer on his favorite players. Golf wasn’t just a hobby for him; it was a joy, a challenge, and a community he cherished. Gary loved spending quiet moments on the porch with his dog, watching the birds and visiting with the many friends and neighbors who stopped by.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marie Southard; his brothers, Jim Southard and Eugene Southard; and his beloved wife, Ann Southard, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Bradley of Nordheim, Texas; his son Richard Owens and wife Kimberly of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and his son Michael Owens and wife Laura Middleton of Red Bank, Tennessee. He also leaves behind two granddaughters, Haley and Emagen; three great‑grandchildren, Mila, Zoey, and Micah; and a wide circle of friends who were every bit as dear as family.
Among those friends, Donna Bailey, Sharon Scott, and Tammy Hayes held a special place in Gary and Ann’s lives. Their unwavering friendship, love, and care brought comfort, laughter, and support through the years, and the family is deeply grateful for all they gave.
His memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Heber Springs Humane Society in memory of Gary Southard.
