Elzada Mildred Cooper, age 88, Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away December 25, 2022 at Southridge Nursing in Heber Springs. She was born on June 24, 1934 in Colt, Arkansas to the late Charles Webb and Alice Davis Webb.

Elzada was born into a sharecropper’s family in the muddy cotton country of eastern Arkansas. She was an honest, kind, and hard-working loving wife and mother. At the age of 16, she married Walter Donald Cooper Jr. and moved with him to Concord, Arkansas. They raised five children and worked very hard to put together a 130-acre farm with cattle and 3 chicken houses. Elzada was a Christian woman and a member of the First Baptist Church of Concord since 1958.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Donald Cooper, Jr.; one daughter, Donna Gay Smith; and her parents.

Elzada is survived by her son, Kevin Cooper (Cephas) of Concord, Arkansas; three daughters, Faye Bolden (Gary) of Pfeiffer, Arkansas, Theresa Cooper Hawkins of Batesville, Arkansas, and Jan Shearer Hill (Mel) of Rose Bud, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends.

Elzada will be missed. What a celebration it was when she got to see Jesus on Christmas Day.

Visitation is 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Concord, Arkansas followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. The interment is at Concord City Cemetery immediately following the service.
