Edith Golmon Obituary

Edith Rose Golmon, 94, lately of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away on January 4, 2024. Born in Natchez, Mississippi to Samuel Bentley Burns and Edith Elizabeth Burns on April 4, 1929, Edith Rose lived in Natchez, Mississippi most of her lifetime before moving to Arkansas in 2010.

Edith Rose graduated in June 1947 from Carr Central High School in Vicksburg, and was married to Jerry E. Golmon on November 11, 1951. She and Jerry had two daughters, Jo Ann and Jerilyn, and were active members of First Presbyterian Church in Natchez. She spent over 30 years working at Britton & Koontz Bank and considered many of her customers as friends. Whether at work, church or social outings, she was always fashionably dressed and never went out without her “lipstick”. She loved music and dancing, especially to the Glenn Miller Band and other big bands. Holidays and birthdays for Edith Rose were a cause for celebrating and gathering with family and friends. She especially loved Christmas and buying presents for everyone. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making cakes for family and friends for birthdays and special occasions. Everyone loved receiving one of her special cakes! She had a green thumb and took a lot of pride in her plants and yard. Her pets were also an important part of her life and brought her so much joy. Edith Rose will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness to her family, friends and all that knew and loved her.

Edith Rose was predeceased by her loving husband, Jerry E. Golmon, and by her parents.
