Doris Faye (Hinson) Sabatino Obituary

Doris Faye Sabatino, 84, passed away on July 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and loyalty. Fierce and full of life, Doris was the kind of woman who showed up when you needed her—whether with a listening ear or a sharp word of truth.

Doris was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, but moved to Cupertino, California at the age of 14, where she began carving out a bold and spirited path for herself. She was a hair stylist by trade. She was adventurous, hardworking, and generous to a fault. She had a deep love for fast cars, dancing, and horses—anything that made her feel alive. Her spirit was untamed, her laugh unforgettable.

Doris built a beautiful life with her husband, Lucian Sabatino, in the orchards of San Juan Bautista, California. Surrounded by walnut trees, apricots, and apples, they shared many joyful years in the rhythms of country life, while raising Julianne Hinson, her niece. Later, she moved to Heber Springs to be closer to her children, Billy and Stacy, and her beloved sister, Sarah.

After moving to Heber Springs, Doris became an active and beloved member of Sugarloaf Baptist Church. She served faithfully as the church hostess, helped as a bus monitor for the children, and was a dedicated part of the kitchen team. Outside of church, she also gave her time to the community by volunteering at Baptist Health Hospital in Heber Springs

She was a true friend and a steady presence who never hesitated to speak her mind. Doris didn’t mince words, but her love ran deep and wide.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Sabatino; her daughter, Julianne Hinson Higdon; her brother, John Earl Hinson; and her sisters, Lola Jenene Brewer and Nancy Janette Sullivan.

Doris is survived by her son, Billy Absher; her daughter Stacy Absher; sister, Sarah Allen; and her brother, Ed Hinson—along with 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who loved and admired her deeply.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is in the presence of the Lord. Doris lived life on her terms, and we are all better for having known her.

Her Celebration of Life will be held at Sugarloaf Baptist Church in Heber Springs on Friday, July 18th at 11 a.m.
