Diana Gayle Dodd

Diana Gayle Dodd, 77, of Heber Springs, passed away May 7, 2021 in Little Rock. She was born July 25, 1943 in Nashville, Arkansas to the late Calvin Schooley and Melva Herring. She was a faithful member of Sugarloaf Baptist Church in Heber Springs.

Gayle is well known in the community for the best hamburgers around, hot plate lunches, and homemade pies at the Swinging Bridge Diner for 20+ years. She was also a partner in the Swinging Bridge Trout Dock and Resort for many years. She was a wonderful cook, and after retiring from the restaurant, volunteered in the kitchen at her church. Gayle also found great satisfaction in a well-kept yard and garden and loved to travel with family and friends, especially if sand and sun were involved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Phillip Dodd, and her parents. Survivors include: son Mike Dodd of Heber Springs; daughter, LeAnne Gilliam (Dan) of Cabot, Arkansas; two sisters, Vicki Bearden of Heber Springs and Melva Kell of Sheridan; step-father, Robert Herring of Hardin, Arkansas; two grandsons, Jared and Jordan Gilliam; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members and many cherished friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 12, at Heber Springs Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Criswell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
