Clovis Cyr Obituary

Clovis Cyr Obituary

Clovis Cyr, age 97, of Heber Springs, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in his home with family. He was born to the late Theodule and Anna Deschene Cyr, in Iroquoise, New Brunswick, Canada on March 5, 1927.

Clovis became a brick mason at the age of 18 in Ontario, Canada, but moved to Arkansas 10 years later to continue his career, met and married the love of his life, Juanita, and became an amazing father to Tommy and Patricia. He worked as an expert bricklayer for another 40 years before retiring to Heber Springs where he, Juanita, son Tommy and his wife Linda built their new homes on the Little Red River. Clovis volunteered with several organizations, such as the Nail Benders for Jesus and Hammerheads, all over Arkansas, in several other states, and on mission trips to Germany, Brazil, and Mexico. He continued to use his construction skills in disaster relief, to help others, and in building and repairing churches for another 20 years. His love for people and his heart to serve made him a wonderful example to many; but especially, to those with a privilege of calling him Father and Grandfather! He loved being outdoors - hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, gardening, entertaining the grandkids or just enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. He created precious memories by sharing his love for life, his patience, kindness, time and knowledge with all of us. He loved to make music, playing his harmonica for his grandkids and with his group, “Strings & Things”, up into his 90’s.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; son, Tommy Cyr; his parents, four brothers, Abel, Emile, Maurice, and Ernest Cyr; and two sisters, Leona Cyr and Jeanette Dionne.

Clovis is survived by his daughter, Patricia Hill; daughter-in-law, Linda Cyr; four grandchildren, Joe Cyr (Heather), Teresa Parker (Tim), Andrea Cheshier (Greg), and Paul Martin (Brandy). He also had 13 great-grandchildren, Tommy Gibson, Ashley Ake (Ethan), Kristen Johnston (Aaron), Kayla Martin, Matt Parker (Anna), Madison Grigsby (Patrick), Hunter Martin (Justice), Nick Cheshier (Sophie), Ty Cyr, Maggie Cyr, Brooklyn McClellan, Hannah Yelland (Eric), and Elizabeth Akines. He also had fourteen great-great-grandchildren so far.

Clovis was loved and admired by so many throughout his life, left us an incredible example of what a good husband and father should be, and is now enjoying his eternal reward reunited with many loved ones and the Jesus he served!
