Charles McKinney Obituary

Charles McKinney, age 91, or Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born May 14, 1933 in Corning, Arkansas to the late Lonnie McKinney and Clarcie Howell McKinney. 


Charles served in the United States Army for 8 years. He was a Korean War Veteran and an Army Ranger in Germany reaching Staff Sergeant rank. He loved to work and didn’t believe in retirement. He would walk on his treadmill or drive his tractor just to keep busy. He also loved to go to church and spend time with his family and friends. 


He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mildred McKinney; his parents; step-son, Matthew Risinger; brother, Lonzo McKinney; sister, Leopha Harley; 4 other siblings at a young age; brother-in-law, Ed Harley; sister-in-law, Arvilla McKinney.


Charles is survived by his wife, Linda Ray McKinney of Heber Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Marianne Hester (Steve) of Cabot, Arkansas; step-daughter, Jennifer Charlebois (Christian) of Heber Springs, Arkansas; brother, Bob McKinney of Corning, Arkansas; grandchildren, John “J.D.” Stump (Mari) of Nixa, Missouri; Emily Lawrence (Brad) of Hernando, Mississippi; step-grandchildren, Allie Spicer and Elizabeth Charlebois; great-grandchildren, Katherine Stump, Charles Harrison Stump, Charlotte Lawrence, Violet Lawrence, and Duke Lawrence; and many extended family members and wonderful friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
