Chanless David Boren Obituary

Chanless David Boren, born 1948 in Amarillo, TX, passed calmly into the Lord’s hands on September 12th, 2024. Chan is survived by his wife, Sue Boren; daughter, Tonya House (Boren); son, Jason Wray; step-sons, Mike Ferguson and Jeff Renfro; step-daughter, Rene Nichols (Ferguson); grandchildren, Seth Rogers, Kayla Cagle (Ferguson), and Jennifer Mullens (Ferguson); great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Chan was preceded in death by his parents, David Boren and Mary Boren (Laverty); his son, David Allen; and brother, Richard Boren.

Chan was a welder by trade and an outdoorsman at heart. Raised on a farm, Chan loved working with his hands and had a helper's heart. After retiring he was always looking for ways to help. You couldn’t catch him at home because he was always out volunteering somewhere whether it was at Breaking Bread, bailing hay for a friend, or working with Mike in his shop. Chan was happiest helping. Any friend of a friend of Chan’s could call him in need and he’d drop what he was doing to help or aid in any way he could.

Chan had an ornery sense of humor. He adored children. If he wasn’t volunteering, he was playing with his grandchildren or great-grands. Irritating and playing simultaneously.

Chan found the Lord and all that knew him, knew that his life was forever changed. He loved the Lord and pursued Him. Chan was the first to volunteer to pray over meals. He was often found at church holding doors, shaking hands, and visiting those ill or in need. His love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
