Carl Philamlee Obituary

Carl Melvin Philamlee went to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 21, 2022. He passed peacefully at his home in Hopewell, Arkansas surrounded by his family.

Carl was born in Drasco, Arkansas, on June 17, 1935, to Floyd and Katie (Logan) Philamlee. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alvin “Bluch” Philamlee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Adcock) Philamlee of the home, a son, Kerry Philamlee of Rose Bud, Arkansas, a daughter, Sheila Stair and husband, Johnny, one granddaughter, Carlee Stair, all of Drasco, Arkansas. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Carl was a faithful member of the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, of Rose Bud, Arkansas.

Carl worked as a mechanic and a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was also the owner of Rose Bud Auto Sales prior to his retirement. He was a hard worker and was dedicated to his family, church, and community. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the produce with neighbors and friends.

Carl was a loving husband to his wife, better known as “Lou” to him. They had a long and amazing life together, always putting God first in their marriage of sixty-six wonderful years.

Carl was also a wonderful father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He loved his children and grandchild with all his heart. He considered Johnny to be a son. They truly had a special bond. One of his greatest enjoyments was watching his granddaughter, Carlee, grow up playing softball and showing pigs at the fair. There was nothing he would not do for any of his family.

Everyone knew he was quite the hunter. He and his son, Kerry, had many deer and pheasant hunts together, where they made many great memories. Carl was a crack shot, and nothing pleased him more than to watch his daughter or granddaughter drop a pheasant. He eventually hooked his son-in-law, Johnny, and brother, Bluch, on to pheasant hunting. They had some great hunts together making for stories that will never be forgotten. Carl was his happiest when his German Shorthair, Sadie, was on point with pheasants about to take flight.

Carl also enjoyed turkey hunting with his nephews, Harlin and Keith. He had a true love for his family and friends, and he was always looking forward to the next
hunt or family get together. I’m sure there is a huge get together of family and friends going on in heaven now!
