Mrs. Barbara Claire Johnston Pitts
August 26, 1938 - December 22, 2021
Mrs. Barbara Pitts was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, daughter of Rolland and Hattie Johnston. In her girlhood, the family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee where Mrs. Pitts attended and graduated from Memphis Central High School. She and her husband, Mr. Glenn E. “Sonny” Pitts, Sr, married on August 8, 1959 and had been married for 59 years at the time of his passing in 2018. Mrs. Pitts retired in 1991 from Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church in Memphis where she served as church secretary for many years. At that time, she and her late husband moved to Heber Springs where she lived until her passing. Mrs. Pitts served the community of Heber Springs as a Justice of the Peace on the Cleburne County Quorum Court for 15 years, from 1997-2012. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Mr. Robert Johnston and sister Mrs. Carol Johnston McCommon (David) She is survived by her son, Glenn E. Pitts, Jr (Jennifer) and her daughter, Andrea Claire Pitts along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. May the glory of the Lord shine round about her.
