Barbara Elizabeth Volz Fox, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at home in Houston, Texas. After a short illness, she spent her remaining days in hospice at home, enjoying precious visits from family.
Barbara was born June 6, 1928, in Detroit, Mich., to parents Raymond and Dorothea Volz and was big sister to Mildred, Delores, and Raymond. After graduation from East Detroit High School in 1946, Barbara attended East Side College of Beauty Culture, where she earned her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician for two years. Then she worked as personal secretary for the construction department of Bell Telephone Company in Roseville, Michigan, for four years.
In 1949, love-struck Barbara and beau Keith Fox vowed a lifetime of love to each other and wed at Mt. Zion Lutheran church in Detroit. In the coming years, Barbara became a stay-at-home Mom for little foxes, Mark, Cynthia, Michael, and Sandi. Keith built three homes for their growing family in Fraser, Michigan.
Keith transferred to North Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1977 and retired in 1983, after 35 years at Bell Telephone Company. They were members of Park Hill Baptist Church.
They built a house in Heber Springs by Greers Ferry Lake. Barbara cooked up scrumptious homemade meals, and Keith arranged fun boat trips on the lake. They were members of First Baptist Church. For nine years, they traveled yearly to St. Petersburg, Florida., to build houses for a Christian prophecy radio/TV ministry.
In 2018, Barbara went to live with daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Raymond (Al) Jacobs, in Houston. In her final days, Barbara told her pastor at Houston Northwest Church that she wanted her children to continue to serve the Lord all of their days.
