Anita Marie DeWitt, age 85, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at Southridge Nursing and Rehab in Heber Springs on Friday, August 21, 2026. She was born May 7, 1941 in Grossy, Arkansas to the late Paul Eugene Davis and Lorine Mildred Garrett Davis. She was a member of The Assembly in Heber Springs.

Anita was an amazing wife, a loving mother, daughter, sister, Aunt and incredible friend to many. She was a writer, painter, poet and even a published author. She earned her Bachelors in Theology and held a Certificate of Ordination with The Gospel Ministry. Amongst her many talents, she loved shopping for clothes and had a unique and savvy sense for fashion. She enjoyed going to the movie theater to watch inspirational movies and she cherished her time with her sisters in faith.  

Anita attended The Assembly in Heber Springs and considered her church friends her family.  She had a natural ability to form immediate connections with everyone including strangers. She enjoyed life fully. She is now lighting up Heaven with her beautiful smile and joyful spirit. She will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by her son, Jeff DeWitt of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas; brother, Ron Davis of Lonoke, Arkansas; sister, Pauli Obritz (Robert “Obie”) of Temecula, California; and many extended family members and wonderful friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Ray DeWitt; and sister-in-law, Sharon Davis.

The visitation is 12:00 PM, Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at The Assembly in Heber Springs followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Rev. Lee Brown is officiating. The interment is immediately after the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Searcy, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Caleb Parish, Aaron Brown, Randy Grubbs, Shane Parish, Steven Roy DeWitt Jr., Gunner Raymond DeWitt, and Robert Hernandez.
