Anita Cox Obituary

Anita Karen Cox, 67, went to her Heavenly home on March 14th. She was the wife of Dan Cox for 37 years.

She spent her childhood in Hunter, Arkansas where she played in rice canals and rode horses. She was the daughter of William Junior Melvin and Hazel James Melvin. She attended school in Brinkley and at the age of 60, graduated ASU Heber Springs with an associates in Culinary Arts. She worked in manufacturing for the majority of her adult career and embodied the phrase “work hard, prank harder” but always fed and cared for her coworkers as one would family.

She was a member of Woodrow Baptist Church. She was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, riding horses, going for walks and 4 wheeling. She loved to cook, but loved even more to see people gather to eat her amazing food. To her family, she was the best cook in the world. She had an amazing artistic ability as well, helping her daughters with VBS, cake designing, painting, and costume designs for grandkids. Her legacy as a wife, mother, and granny will be cherished by her family forever.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Cox; children, Tanya Barnes, Felicia Hipp (Jamie Hipp), Kim Marcone (Peter Marcone), Danny Cox; grandchildren, Dustin Barnes, Bryce Hipp, Linda Carlisle, Alexis Taylor, Blaine Hipp, John Marcone, Alexandria Marcone, and Sophia Marcone; great-grandchild, Scarlet Carlisle; and a very special nephew, little CJ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William JR Melvin and Hazel James Melvin; and sister, Carolyn Linderman (CJ Linderman).

Anita’s celebration of life will be located at Woodrow Baptist Church on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The visitation will begin at 2pm with the service at 3pm.
