Allen Holton Obituary

Allen Duane Holton, age 89, Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away February 9, 2021 in Little Rock. He was born May 12, 1931 in Selma, California to the late Wesley Bernell Holton and Etha Bowles Holton.

He lived in Fowler, California for many years and graduated from Fowler High School in 1950. After high school he served in the US Air Force from 1950 – 1954 mostly in Alaska where his son David was born.

After serving in the Air Force, he returned to Fowler and worked for the local Ford garage as well as assisting his dad with his bee-keeping business. In the early 1960s he started Metro Motors in Fowler which was a car towing and repair business which he ran for fourteen years. Allen then went to work for a trucking outfit in Fresno for a number of years during which time he met and married Bettie. A few years later they moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas to be closer to Bettie’s family and start a boat repair and welding business which he had for many years until health issues required him to close.

Allen was a man who enjoyed his family. He dearly loved boating and lived for the water. He was a well-known business owner of AD Welding and Boat Repair of Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was always willing to help people, and will be missed by many in his community.

For many years he got together with his best friends known as “The Boys” for breakfast every Saturday morning. These men included Ron Davis, David and Paul Phillips, Filo Coats and Clem Valys. They were always talking about planes, trains, boats and automobiles. This breakfast bunch will truly miss one of their best pals and surely the memories Allen made over the years with this group of guys will live on.

Allen was a great and loved man and may the memories he made with his family be cherished forever. His family said some of the best and happiest memories were the September vacations at the cabin where they spent time at Shaver Lake every year.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie Holton; one son, David Holton  (Tamara) of Sanger, California; two daughters, Pattie-Jo Cardis and Nancy Kay Douglas both of Chicago, Illinois; nieces, Jeanette Daley of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Anita Hampton of Los Osos; nephews, Mark Ginder of Atascadero and Dale Ginder of San Luis Obispo; grandsons, Steve Purifoy of Little Rock, Benjamin Holton, Michael Holton, Michael Purifoy, and Bryan Purifoy; granddaughters, Catherine Cardis, Sarah Douglas, Jennifer Purifoy, Sasha Purifoy, and Kathleen Horlick; great-granddaughters, Caolinn, Olivia, and Julia Holton; step-daughters, Dawn Gilson and husband Keri, and Denise Purifoy; and other extended family members and many friends.
