Alfred Eugene Smith

Alfred Eugene Smith, age 61, of Vilonia, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Monday, January 3, 2022. He was son of the late Kenneth Albert Smith and Geneva Mae Bufford Smith.

Alfred was employed for 32 years at Remington and made a career as a machinist. He was an avid sports fan with his favorite teams being the Razorbacks and the Dodgers. Although his favorite sport was baseball, he loved to play and coach almost every sport. Through the years, Alfred would coach numerous youth sports teams in football, basketball, baseball, softball, and golf. He also had the privilege of coaching both of his daughter’s softball teams for many years. Alfred also loved camping with his family and he especially love spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dee Dee Lynn Garrett Smith; two daughters, Amanda Sanson (Kevin) of Vilonia, Arkansas, and Staci Allen (Conner) of Williston, North Dakota; one bonus son, Michael Perez (Abby) of Stilwell, Oklahoma; one brother, Kenny Smith (Sheila) of Vilonia, Arkansas; two sisters, Carolyn Kennedy (Dwayne) of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Connie Farner (Joe) of Houston, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Ella Sanson, Harlee Sanson, Kip Sanson, Braxton Allen, Rhett Allen; two bonus grandchildren, Miles Brunk, and Ruby Perez; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation is 6 - 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Heber Springs Funeral Home. The funeral service is 10:00 am, Monday, January 10, 2022 at Heber Springs Funeral Home, followed by the interment at Center Chapel Cemetery in Wilburn, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Randy Collier, Dustin Smith, Gary Kurzer, Larry Lawrence, Hal Sellers, Dale Holland, Dennis Martin, and Heath Hanner.
