Patty Nelson Obituary

Patty Sue McNeely Nelson, age 68, of Pumpkin Bend, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2019. She was born on April 21, 1951 to Leo McNeely, Sr. and Winnie Lee Dickerson McNeely.  She graduated from McCrory High School in 1969. She was a faithful member of Morton Baptist Church where she served as church secretary and many other areas through the years. She was employed at American Greetings until they closed the McCrory factory, she then went to work at the law office of Bay Fitzhugh in Augusta.  She worked there until her illness made it impossible for her to work. She wrote the “Pumpkin Bend Postings” for the Woodruff County Monitor for many years. 

Patty Sue was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and Nana who was always there for her family.  She will be sorely missed by each and every one of them.  The joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren. One of her hobbies for many years was participating in a bowling league in Wynne. If friends asked if there was anything she wanted her request was always a chocolate pie. She was always the photographer at every family event and had hundreds of pictures as a result. 

Preceding her in death was her father; Leo McNeely, Sr, one brother; Leo McNeely, Jr., one sister; Juanita Planchon and one son-in-law David Bolden.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years James Nelson whom she married January 17,1970; mother; Winnie Lee McNeely of Pumpkin Bend, AR; two daughters, Debra Nelson (Rusty Beshears) and Michelle Bolden –Wallis (Andy) of McCrory, AR; three sisters, Oneida Williams of McCrory, AR, Lou Ann McNeely of Pumpkin Bend, AR and Joyce James of England, AR; two granddaughters, Breanna Walker (Brandon) and Brooke Bolden; three great-grandchildren, Brylee and Bracin Walker and Myla Bolden, a step- grandson, Brayden Walker other extended family members and many friends.
