Welcome to the memorial page for

Maxine Berniece (Greene) Blanton

May 25, 1921 ~ November 10, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Maxine B. Blanton, age 96 of Heber Springs, Arkansas went home to be with her Lord this passed Friday about 6:45pm.  She is the daughter of Homer and Lota Greene now deceased.  Maxine has lived in Heber Springs 32 years moving here from Memphis in 1985.  Maxine has worked hard all her life as a banker in Illinois and Tennessee, and after moving here in 1985, she was hired as Wal-Mart’s first “People Greeter”.  She was known as their most friendly people greeter.  Not only did she meet them with a smile, she’d usually ask those that had just moved here from out of town if they attended church and if so-what denomination they were and then tell them the location of their church.  David Miller, who was our Association Missionary at that time, once made the remark that Wal-Mart thought Maxine was working for them, but she was really inviting customers to visit Sugarloaf Baptist Church where her son, Lloyd, was pastor.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, Sr. in 1983, her sister Velma Bennett, her husband James of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas and by grandson Shawn Blanton of Sumner, Washington.

She is survived by two sons: Lloyd Blanton, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas and Gayle (Chico) Blanton and wife, Liz, of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas; and seven grandchildren: Kip Blanton and wife, Christine, of Grand Prairie, Texas, Kevin Blanton and wife, Penny, of Heber Springs, Kimberly Hatsell and husband, Donny, of Heber Springs, Kyle Blanton and wife, Amy, of Clinton, Arkansas, Michelle McCarter and husband, Steve, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mike Blanton of Raleigh, North Carolina. She also has sixteen great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She also has many friends and will always be remembered for her great cooking and her homemade vegetable soup.

Maxine will be laid to rest beside her husband and parents at Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri.
