Mr. Jesse Ray Whittington, age 82, of Batesville, Arkansas went to be with the Lord June 7, 2019 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born October 23, 1936 in Liberty, Mississippi he was the son of the late Ray and Della Mae Johnson Whittington. He was a retired minister pastoring some 50 years before his retirement.
His hobbies included fixing things, telling stories, being a prankster but most of all a straight shooter that wanted to conduct his life in the right way. He loved his church and his God.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Avery Whittington; one son, Tommy (Glenda) Whittington of Judsonia, AR; two sisters, Sheila Akers of Quitman, TX and Patricia Queen (Eddie) of Locust Grove, AR; one brother, Robert Whittington of Ponchatoula, LA; two sisters, Rose Marie (Daniel) of Cleveland, TN and Peggy Sterling (Melvin) of Ponchatoula, LA; nine grandchildren, Jerrod Whittington, Joel Whittington, Jason Whittington, Jeffrey Whittington, Thadd Brooks, Ralena McQuire, Tabitha Rendon, Jessica Burrow and Julie Woodard; 29 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and other extended family members and many, many friends.
There will be a graveside service 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Kyler Cemetery in Batesville with Bro. Don Yancey and Bro. Tommy Whittington officiating.
