George Gerald Wright

George Gerald Wright age 85 of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at Unity Health in Searcy. Born December 2, 1931 in Harrisonburg, Louisiana he was the son of the late George and Mattie Faulk Wright. He retired from the US Navy in June of 1981after serving his country with distinction for thirty years. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

Mr. Wright was called Gramps by his family whom he dearly loved. He was an avid sportman enjoying basketball, volleyball, hunting and fishing. His family stated he had a dry sense of humor and loved to tease people. He lived for deer season to come around each year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Wayne Wright; sisters, Sarah, Margaret and Doris and a brother, Jimmy Wright.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife and high school sweetheart whom he married sixty five years ago, Ruth Warner Wright; daughter, Janet Dye of Heber Springs; four sisters,  Mildred, Patsy, Carol and Alice; three brothers, Paul, Don and Russell; four grandchildren, Tamara Berry, Michael Towns and wife Tamara, Michael Wright, Jr., Kristina Wright and husband Jan Bakker; six great-grandchildren, Gayle , Steven, Jaylee  and  Aubrey Towns, Steven Dye and Ethan Wright and many many friends.

A visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church near Pangburn with services starting at 2:00 pm with Bro. Bill Holcomb and Eugene Lawrence officiating.
Full Military Honors will be conducted  at the pavilion area at Good Springs Cemetery after the church service on Sunday.
