Douglas "Doug" Alvin Thurmond

Douglas Alvin “Doug” Thurmond, 53, of Quitman, Arkansas suddenly went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, December 20, 2017. When Doug found Jesus, his goal became sharing with others the same grace that he had received himself. He never met a stranger, and he could recall a name at a moment’s notice.

Doug worked as a lineman for close to twenty-five years. Doug had a knack for fixing things, so as an avid car enthusiast, he had a yard full of “projects”. Doug had the ability to find the good in any person or situation, and he could see the value of a person beyond what others could see. He had a heart for helping those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Shirley Thurmond, and his brother, Glenn Thurmond.

Doug is survived by his wife of thirty years, Lisa Thurmond; one son, Michael Thurmond; and the many friends that he had made throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Doug’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, American Family Radio, or the American Cancer Society.
