Bobby Glenn Simmons, age 80, of Quitman, Arkansas, formerly of McCrory, passed away Thursday, November 16 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born August 21, 1937 in Overcup, Arkansas to the late Christopher C. Simmons, II and Emma Hopkins Simmons. Bobby was a member of Sugarloaf Baptist Church and served as an ordained deacon. He also served his country through his service in the United States Airforce during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was employed as an electronic engineer by Sanyo Manufacturing in Forrest City, Arkansas. Bobby enjoyed taking part in anything that had to do with the great outdoors: fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles. He loved working on old Maytag washer motors. Bobby was one who could fix anything that was broken. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was where he found the most joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald David Simmons; two sisters: Vivian Burton and Christine Koch; and one brother, Chris Simmons, III.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Loretta Barker Simmons; two sons: Bobby Glenn Simmons, Jr. of Tumbling Shoals and Billy Wayne (Janie) Simmons of Lobelville, Tennessee; two daughters: Donna McConnell of Greenbrier and Sharon (Michael) Wheeler of Conway; one brother, Jimmy Louis (Jackie) Simmons of Gautier, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Officiating ministers will be Bro. Ron Barker of Bodfish, California and Bro. Tony Criswell of Heber Springs.
