Bro. Vanny "Van" Lee Harness age 55, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in Wynne, AR. He was born June 11, 1956 to Cecil and Irene Harness in Marshall, AR. He has been Pastor of West Side Baptist Church for the past 26 years.
He has been a Pastor for close to 40 years all together. He was also a Marine and loved his country very much. He was a graduate of Southern Baptist College and OBU cum laude.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Corday Harness and Irene Loice Thomas Harness, his brother Jerry Harness, his sister Betty Hooton Contini and nephew Calvin Harness.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Harness of Higden, AR, one son Andrew of Higden, AR, three daughters, Grace Harness of Springfield, MO, Anna Harness of Benton, AR and Rose Milligan and husband Brian of Jonesboro, AR, two brothers, Clytee Harness and wife June of New Port Richey, Florida, twin brother, Lanny Harness and wife Nenea of Greenbrier, AR, six nephews, two nieces, many great- nephews and nieces, a large church family, and other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday, August 26, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at West Side Baptist Church in Greers Ferry, AR.
A funeral will be Saturday, August 27, 2011 also at West Side Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. Memorials can be made to Gideons International or West Side First Baptist Church Library Fund.
