Samuel Barton Murphree, 63, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas passed away Friday, January 27, 2012. He was born November 1, 1948 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to the late Oliver and Lucille Sneed Murphree. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Murphree Cothren, and 3 step-grand children, Margarita Perez, Carolyn Tackett, Mikal Tackett.
Mr. Murphree is survived one sister, Olivia Murphree Brown, of Cordova, Tennessee, his wife, Karen Murphree of Greers Ferry, 2 daughters, Agenia Dawn Bair, of Rogers, Arkansas and Aimee (Homer) Branscum of Greers Ferry, Arkansas; 1 son, Samuel B (Corri) Murphree II, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas; 2 stepdaughters, Candace (Armando) Mejia, of Tomball, Texas, Katy (Ben) Stark, of Conway, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren, Paul Mattes Jr, Stephanie (Dominic Henry) Mattes, Carrie Mattes, Michael (Sarah) Branscum, Tyler Branscum, Bethany Branscum, Samara Murphree, Carra Murphree, Sophie Mejia, Stella Mejia, and Leo Stark; 2 great-grandchildren, Eryn Branscum and Jacob Mattes; 1 soon to be born great-grandchild, Kaden Anthony Henry; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Heber Springs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Lone Star Baptist Church in Greers Ferry with the Rev. Homer Branscum and Rev. Mark Cothren officiating.
