Robert J. Neuman, RET. USAF, age 87, of Heber Springs died December 1, 2009. He was born May 13, 1922 in Fargo, N. Dakota and was a veteran of World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, retiring from Military Duty in 1973 after 28 years tour of duty. His decorations were two Bronze Stars and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He worked afterwards as a technical representative for Northrop Aviation Corp., stationed in Tabriz and Tehran, Iran for 2-½ years, and retired in 1980 near Quitman, Arkansas.
His wife Ruth Neuman preceded him in death in 2006. He is survived by two sons, Robert D. Neuman of Buffalo Center, Iowa and Thomas E. Neuman of Ventura, California; two daughters, Andrea Neuman-Parsons of The Woodlands, Texas and Elizabeth Begnoche of Belle Vista, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and dear friends/relatives Jean Dupont of McGregor, Minnesota and Pam Joiner (niece) of Plano, Texas.
His hobbies included coin, stamp, music and first edition magazine collections. During his military career he flew with a number of famous pilots and served under some very important wing commanders. He loved to fly either as crewman or passenger on inspection tours.
He and Ruth will be buried together in Arlington National Cemetery.
