Ralph William Poe
Ralph William Poe, age 77, of Ida passed away August 7, 2009. Born
November 2, 1931, in Valdosta, Georgia, he was the son of the late
Alta Moon Poe and Oscar Poe. Mr. Poe was heavy equipment driver for
Rock Products and a US Navy veteran.
He was a member of the Folklore Society and band member where he
enjoyed playing guitar. His grandchildren were very special to him and
he loved his entire family.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Poe of Ida, Arkansas;
one son, Michael and wife Mary of Heber Springs, Arkansas; two
daughters, Jeanne Matthews and husband Danny and Julie Mize and
husband Scott both of Heber Springs, Arkansas; four grandchildren,
Candace McElrath, Aymond Greenlee, Jacob Poe and Emmalie Mize; a host
of relatives and friends.
Mr Poe was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Pugh.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, August 8,
2009 at Heber Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be 2:00 pm,
Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Ida General Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff
Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near
