On April 13, 2010, Pollie Peer Jones Verser, of Greers Ferry went to meet her Savior, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born in Long Creek, Arkansas, September 17, 1943 to Carless and Pauline Peer of Floral, Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Pollie is survived by her husband Billy Verser of Greers Fery, three children, Toni Thompson of Tumbling Shoals, Scott Jones and wife Beth of Drasco, Mike Jones and wife Gena of Heber Springs, Arkansas, eleven grandchildren; Nathan Rutledge, Josh Rutledge, Scotty Jones, Jacob Jones, Chandler Jones, Marissa Jones, Jeremy Verser, Chelsey Verser, Courtney Verser, Meleah Roy and Alex Roy, and six great-grandchildren; some very dear nieces, nephews, four sisters; Fran Johns, Loretta Tosta, Eunice Daonaldson, and Patty Frenzel; one brother; Clifford Peer, and many near and dear friends.

Pollies most treasured gifts in life were her three children and her husband Billy.

Pollie lived in Arizona and California for a number of years before returning to Arkansas in 1975. She was very proud of her accomplishment of being Batesville’s first female police officer. She was employed at Kelly’s Restaurant for years both part-time and full-time. In 1983, she worked for H.R.A. at the Youth Center in Magness. In 1988 she began working with the DWI Program in Heber Springs, which covered Stone, Cleburne and Van Buren counties; she continued there until 2007 when she retired because of her illness. A celebration of Pollie’s past and new life will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Heber Springs Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. A gathering will follow after the service at the Heber Springs Funeral Home.
