July 28, 1929 ~ February 7, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Helen Frances Schneiders Couron, 87, of Drasco, Arkansas formally of Sioux City, Iowa died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the home of her son, James Couron, after an extended illness.

Arrangements are with Heber Springs Funeral Home in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Private graveside service and  internment will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.

Helen was born July, 28, 1929 in Sioux City to Lawrence  Anthony Schneiders and Grace Marie Inlay Schneiders. Raised in Sioux City graduating from Central High School in 1946.  Married Marvin R Couron on November 4, 1946.

Worked for Kresges and Orpheum Theater in Sioux City as a teenager. The majority of her work experience was in parts and service at Crescent Electric in Sioux City, General Electric in California and Colorado and Williams Appliance in Sioux City retiring in 2004.   Residing with her parents in Sioux City until 1991 when she moved to the Valley View Apartments and then the Maple Heights Apartments until December 2014 when she moved to Drasco, Arkansas and lived with her son and daughter in law, James and Bobbie Couron.

Helen enjoyed crafts such as needle point, cross stitching and knitting.

She attended Blessed Sacrament and Immaculate Conception churches in Sioux City and received sacraments at home in Drasco, Arkansas by Father Gregory Drahman, CMRI.

Helen is survived by her three sons, Larry (Jackie) Couron of Council Bluffs. Iowa, James (Bobbie) Couron of Drasco, Arkansas and Marvin (Gayle) Couron of Sioux City, Iowa.  Seven grandchildren, Doug (Susan) Couron of Cedar Creek, Nebraska,  Corey Couron of Sioux City, Kerri (Brett) Hall of Sioux City, Kristi Coupland of Sioux City, Eric (Lauren) Couron of Conway, Arkansas, Ryan (Kenzy) Couron of Alexander, Arkansas and James Couron of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Eleven great grandchildren. Two nieces and one nephew.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Donna Rasmussen and niece, Lorie Rasmussen.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the Kindred Hospice caregivers for providing outstanding support and personal care.
